Exactly one month from today, on April 13th, the Hearthside Dinner will take place at the Wade House in Greenbush, WI. Guests will enjoy a meal of a bygone era, participating in the special Hearthside Dinner program. You’ll go back in time to the 1860s, working together to prepare a meal in the kitchens of the Wade House stagecoach inn. On Wade House’s website they describe the event as, “The sounds and smells of the 19th century come to life as stove and fireplace fires are lit and guests chop and stir, season and roast, preparing their midday meal as Betsey Wade routinely did for stagecoach travelers a century and a half ago.”
The event is a unique opportunity for visitors and guests to enjoy a much different and simpler time. “At the conclusion of the day, everyone pitches in to clear the table, wash the dishes (19th-century style), and sweep the hearth to end a satisfying encounter with central Wisconsin’s past.”
The Wade House is an 1860s style stagecoach inn. It was built to tell the story of frontier entrepreneur Sylvanus Wade and his family in the 1800s during the Civil War era. On the Wade House grounds, you’ll also find an authentic sawmill, one of the few working, water-powered sawmills of its kind in the nation, as well as the Wesley Jung Carriage Museum.
The whole event and location is a great experience in the Sheboygan, WI area, and one of the many great attractions in Plymouth.
